Mean Girls
Oy.
I am constantly surprised by how cruel people are to each other. After 30 years of being the tall, fat, odd, geeky female, you'd think that I wouldn't be so surprised by how merciless one person can be to another. You'd think that I would be immune to how often, how deep, and how many people ravage each other for sport. In our society, where mockery and savagery passes for entertainment, you'd think that we all would have thick hides tough enough to withstand all but the sharpest barbs. But we don't. There are still innocents among us. And some of us even have a bit of it left hidden deep beneath the armor.
It is both a blessing and a curse that innocence remains.
Where is decency? Where is courtesy? Where is compassion?
